If you ask our riders what The Trailcats are all about, you’ll hear a lot of different answers.
Riding bikes.
Hanging out with friends.
Learning how to go faster.
Getting better at climbing hills.
All of those things are true, but they’re not the whole story.
The Trailcats exists to help young people grow, both on and off the bike.
Our team is part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), a nationwide youth mountain biking league focused on more than just competition.
At its core, NICA believes in:
Inclusivity
Equity
Strong bodies
Strong minds
Lifelong participation in cycling
That philosophy shapes everything we do, from how we structure practices to how we support riders on race day.
One of the biggest misconceptions about mountain bike teams is that you need to be fast, fearless, or experienced to join.
That’s not true.
The Trailcats welcome riders of all skill levels, from those who have never ridden singletrack to experienced racers looking to improve. We coach skills progressively, meet riders where they are, and emphasize personal growth over results.
Finishing a ride, trying something new, or sticking with a tough climb can be just as meaningful as standing on a podium.
Mountain biking is a unique sport.
It builds physical fitness, yes - endurance, strength, balance, and coordination; but, it also builds mental toughness. Riders learn how to manage fear, push through discomfort, problem-solve on the fly, and bounce back after setbacks.
Those skills don’t stay on the trail. They show up in school, friendships, and everyday life.
The Trailcats are also about community.
Riders support each other. Coaches volunteer their time because they believe in the mission. Parents cheer, help, and become part of something bigger than a single season.
We celebrate effort, encourage perseverance, and work hard to make sure every rider feels welcome and supported.
If you’re curious about mountain biking, looking for a positive team environment, or simply want to try something new, The Trailcats might be a great fit.
You don’t need the best bike.
You don’t need prior experience.
You just need a willingness to ride, learn, and show up.
We’re glad you’re here, and we’d love to ride with you.
